Getting admitted to our hospital

Taking the first step is the hardest part. We'll handle the rest.

When you're ready to seek help — or helping someone you love — our admissions team will guide you through every step. The process is straightforward, and we're here to make it as smooth as possible.

1. Get a referral from your GP or psychiatrist

To be admitted, you'll need a referral from your GP or psychiatrist. We've provided a referral form to ensure that our team receives all the required in the first instance, to ensure your admission process is smooth and fast.

2. Contact our admissions team

Call us on 1800 961 391 or complete our online enquiry form. Our team will have a confidential conversation with you about what you're experiencing and whether Deakin Private Hospital is the right fit.

3. Health fund check and funding discussion

We'll check your private health insurance coverage and talk through any out-of-pocket costs before you commit to anything. We want you to feel fully informed.

4. Your admission date

Once everything is in place, we'll confirm your admission date and send everything you need to prepare — what to bring, what to expect, and who to contact.

5. Arrival

Our team will be expecting you. You'll be welcomed by our team and introduced to your Care Coordinator and the hospital environment at a pace that feels comfortable. There's no rush.

Patient Handbook

We've prepared an orientation handbook to help you prepare for your arrival. We've provided a helpful packing list, what to expect when you arrive, who you will meet and a regular program.
